"Orthodox Western Medicine is based on the theories of Rene Descartes. These theories dictate that the mind is separate from the body, and that the function of the body should be viewed as a machine. Therefore each part should be treated in isolation from the others. (i.e. if you have liver symptoms, you only treat the liver)

All this is orthodox, mainstream, modern scholarship which is unquestioningly accepted as fact, and taught as such at universities everywhere.

"But what if it is not a fact?" ( Mike Lambert PhD )

The Shen Clinic is an Internationally known centre for Oriental and Bio Energetic Medicine. It offers a complete Natural healthcare system in its own right, dealing with a whole range of health and injury problems some of which are beyond the reach of orthodox medicine.

The philosophy of the clinic requires every practitioner to have a broad understanding of, and competency in, all the modalities used by us before they can practice at The Shen Clinc. This ensures that the patients condition is fully appreciated at all levels, and that no aspect is either discounted, or overlooked (unlike orthodox medicine where you are shuffled from one specialist to another).

Your Condition:

Whilst we appreciate that symptoms are distressing, we have to remain focused on identifying the cause of your problem in our bid to bring about a complete recovery.
Orthodox medicine concerns itself mainly with the erradication of symptoms, many of which are the body's own defence mechanisms, i.e. vomiting, coughs, diarrhoea, fever, pain. Even musculo-skeletal misalignment is in many cases, the result of the body splinting to protect an underlying emotional / organic disfunction. Removing these symptoms is not a good idea in our view. Why? Because all of these are the very mechanisms by which the body defends itself. To suppress them or forcibly remove them could leave the body open to more disease and deterioration. This includes the use of painkillers, antibiotics and manipulation in many cases.
